A full bladder is NOT required.

An initial vaginal ultrasound is performed to evaluate the uterus and the ovaries if no recent ultrasound has been performed. The provider will then place a small tube through the cervix and dispense a small amount of saline solution into the uterus while the ultrasound is being performed. The results will be available to the patient immediately after the scan is complete.
