What Are My Birth Control Options?

Making the decision whether to have sex can be difficult. You should make up your own mind when the time is right for you. If you are not ready for sex, say so. If you think you are ready to have sex, or if you are already having sex, even only now and then, you should take steps to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STD's). Thousands of teens become pregnant each year because they do not use birth control or they do not use it correctly.

What does not work
The following things DO NOT stop you from getting pregnant:
  • Douching
  • Plastic wrap instead of a condom
  • Urination right after sex
  • Having sex for the first time
  • Having sex in a special position
